June 23 Ghorahi, Dang. Lumbini Province Chief Minister Jokh Bahadur Mahara has said that quality education cannot be done unless it is connected to technology. He said this while addressing a national conference on skill development and emerging communication technologies run by AI organized by Rapti Engineering College in Ghorahi on Saturday.
Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Jokh Bahadur Mahara inaugurated the program organized by Silicon Research and Innovation Centre, Kathmandu, Rapti Engineering College at Ghorahi and Swargadwari Community Study and Research Institute.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Mahara stressed the need for proper use of technology to make people’s day-to-day activities easier in today’s world. He said that the technology invented by humans can disturb humans, adding that the increasing number of suicides in recent times may be the product of misuse of technology.
Chief Minister Mahara said that although education was earlier said to be education for all, it should be carried out as per the program of ‘Sub-standard education for all’.
Stating that technology has played a role in spreading knowledge, Chief Minister Mahara said the government has given high importance to technology. Mahara, who was the chief guest at the event, appealed to all to use AI as an integral part of life in the context of human work becoming easier and easier due to the use of technology.
Chief Minister Mahara stressed the need for the state to formulate necessary policies and regulations to regulate the use of AI. He also said that lumbini province government would extend support in this regard.
In the program chaired by Rapti Engineering College Managing Director Dr Bhimsen Giri, discussions were held with working papers on the latest developments of AI and new possibilities.
Registrar of Lumbini Technical University Reg Bahadur Bhandari presented the main paper on AI in the conference. He said THAT AI has become indispensable in life. He also said that everyone is using AI whether they want it or not.
Similarly, Executive Director of Rapti Engineering College and CEO of Silicon Research and Innovation Centre Dr Shailendra Giri presented a working paper on skill development and becoming a place of learning. Likewise, Deputy General Manager of Nepal Television, Engineer Chintamani Baral presented a working paper on increasing use of AI, use of quality education using education and technology.
Similarly, Dr Chiranjivi Shah from Postdoctoral Research Associate Northern Gulf Institute Mississippi State University of America presented a paper on the use of IAs in higher education.
Likewise, Nepal Telecom Engineer Kaviraj Yadav presented a paper on emerging AI communication technology, Dr Rabindra Koirala lectured on emerging educational technologies from University of the West Scotland UK. Similarly, subject experts including Hemanta Basnet presented a working paper in the conference.
Chief of Nepal Telecom Tulsipur Santosh Sharma, Member of Press Council Nepal Sharad Adhikari, Chief of Technical School Lumbini Province Yadav Subedi, former President of CAN Dang Karna Bahadur Pun and Senior Vice President of Dang District Chamber of Commerce and Industry Naresh Kumar Shrestha were also present on the occasion. Executive Director of Rapti Engineering College and CEO of Silicon Research and Innovation Centre Dr Shailendra Giri facilitated the discussion.
Students from various colleges, information officers, security agencies, intellectuals, public representatives, media persons, among others, said that there was a possibility of making progress in education, health, public service delivery and economic development by utilizing the revolution in the field of communication and the power of artificial intelligence. The speakers at the conference suggested how to use AI strategically and make the state more responsible in its development and expansion.
