Education Paper, Kathmandu. Pranisha Bhattarai, a resident of Kailali, has just arrived in Kathmandu after successfully passing her class 12 exam. Currently staying in a hostel in Baghbazar, she has enrolled in the ILTS class at a consultancy in Putlisadak. After completing her Class 12 results and ILTS preparation, Pranisha is thinking of furthering her studies abroad.
Along with Pranisha, four other friends in Kathmandu are also preparing for the ILTS exam. Their collective aspiration is to go abroad for higher education as soon as their Class 12 results are declared.
Keeping her point, Pranisha said, no matter how much you study, job security in Nepal is low. It is more beneficial to pursue a career abroad as there are better opportunities for both study and income. Why stay unemployed in Nepal? You can earn money by studying and working elsewhere.
Like Pranisha, more than 20 of her classmates have also come to Kathmandu and are actively engaged in ILTS preparation. Their common goal is to embark on an overseas educational trip as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Pawan Chaudhary of Dang is also preparing for ILTS at the consultancy in Putlisadak. His goal is to study in Canada.
Many of them have considered Canada as their future study destination. For them, if they cannot go to Canada, Australia can be an alternative option. If that also fails, they have considered looking for study opportunities in other countries.
Choudhary said, it is more appropriate to live in a prosperous country than to live in Nepal as an unemployed person after studying. There is a possibility of good income as well as an opportunity to study further, but there is no such opportunity in Nepal. In his opinion, studying in Nepal is just a waste of time.
Now there is a crowd of students who have studied Plus Two in Putlisadak, Baghbazar, Baneshwar, Koteshwar etc. They are constantly preparing to attend various counseling centers, English language classes and study in countries like Canada, Australia, UK, Finland, and so on.
Given the situation, educational consultants are now experiencing high demand. They are busy teaching students, providing information about foreign countries and assisting with visa applications.
Dipakraj Bhusal, Secretary General of Nepal Educational Counseling Association (ECAN), told Education Paper that most of the students who are currently coming for counseling services are students who have studied Plus Two.
It has become clear that the students will go abroad to study after the Plus Two exam is over. General Secretary Bhusal expressed his displeasure by claiming that students have limited job opportunities under the current education system of Nepal.
He further said, most of the students are mainly concentrated in countries like Australia, Canada, USA, UK and Finland.
The number of students seeking higher education opportunities was seen to be significantly less in the educational fair organized by Hisan recently. Yuvraj Sharma, senior vice president of Hisan, said that compared to previous years, the fair has seen a significant increase in the number of students who want to study abroad.
