Education, Science and Technology Minister Ashok Kumar Rai has said that there is a need to produce the necessary skilled manpower for the nation while making the universities competent and prosperous. He said this while addressing the 64th annual day of Tribhuvan University on Tuesday. He said that there is a need to provide facilities such as physical structure, construction, laboratory, library to make the university up to date.
He pointed out that since a few years ago, unacceptable activities have been taking place against the university management and officials for a civilized and academic sector, and in the name of getting all parties to meet their demands from the government, they should not do such activities and also to resolve the problem through negotiations.
He said that chaotic, non-academic and non-political activities cannot be accepted not only by Tribhuvan University and the Government of Nepal but also by the civilized society.
He said, ‘It is the need of the day to make the university competent and prosperous in a timely manner to produce the skilled manpower required for the nation. For this, the need to provide facilities like physical structure, construction, laboratory, library is equally important. Since a few years ago, I have been closely observing the activities against the university management and officials which are unacceptable for the civilized and academic sector. I would like to draw the attention of the government not to do such activities in the name of meeting their demands from the government and to solve the problem through negotiation, such chaotic, unscientific, and apolitical activities cannot be accepted not only by Tribhuvan University and the government of Nepal, but by the entire civilized society.
Minister Rai said that it is necessary for officials, teachers, staff and students to jointly try to improve the university. He said that the subject of re-structuring of the university, the subject of timely revision of the old courses, the subject of making the study and research of the university technology-friendly, and the issue of stopping a large number of high-ranking teachers from going abroad by providing opportunities within the country are the burning issues of the present time.
